Welcome

Hello! I’m Claire, an Elgin Award-nominated poet – for my book of poetry, I Am Not Your Final Girl – and writer from Philadelphia, currently living in Los Angeles. My writing explores stigmatized issues at the junction of feminism, sexuality, and horror. I’m interested in all forms of art strange, subversive, and scorned by the mainstream, particularly in the horror and romance genres. I write monthly (sometimes more) about identity and sexuality through the lens of cinema on my substack, My Favorite F***ing Movie, and I also (sporadically) co-host a podcast exploring romance novels and sexuality.

My poems and essays have been featured in numerous outlets, including Daily Grindhouse, The Bloodlust, and We Are Horror Zine. My essay on writing violence into poetry is in the craft book, Writing Poetry in the Dark, from Raw Dog Screaming Press. I Am Not Your Final Girl has been featured on LitReactor, the Tufts Poetry Blog, and in Blunt Magazine, among others. It was nominated for the Science Fiction & Fantasy Poetry Association’s 2019 Elgin Awards.

I love binge-watching horror movies with my husband, Corey, and my dog, Chief Brody (yup, from Jaws), hiking in the best weather ever, and more recently, learning how to skateboard (slowly… so slowly).

Please use the contact page if you’d like to get in touch for any reason.

How You Can Support My Writing

If you enjoy my writing or have found it useful or educational, you can support me in a number of ways:

Health Writing

I used to write more extensively about women’s health and health care, and those posts are still available to read in my archives. If you wandered over here because you have or are recovering from vulvodynia or vaginismus, you may be interested in those tags, my post on pelvic floor physical therapy, or my Dilating 101 post. If you’re here to read about my experience with Bartholin cysts, read this post or use this tag.
