Review: Je Joue Mimi Soft Clitoral Vibrator

The Je Joue Mimi Soft is a modest-looking little thing, but this palm-sized, pebble-shaped vibrator is unique in a lot of ways from other small vibrators, and offers a wide array of possibilities for usage. Softer than the original Je Joue Mimi and featuring a pliant, squishy tip, this vibrator is an especially good solution for anyone with sensitive bits, whether due to vulvodynia, recovering from a surgery like vaginoplasty, or for those who simply possess an especially sensitive clit.

But first, let’s talk brass tacks. The Mimi Soft is 3.25 inches long and 2 inches wide, covered in truly silky-soft silicone. It’s shape is egg-like from the front, but fairly flat on the sides, like a smooth pebble. It features five vibration levels and seven different patterns (including my forever-favorite pattern—and basically a necessity for me to cum—the rollercoaster), which range from pleasantly gentle to quite strong and rumbly (though the soft tip diffuses the vibrations a bit, so it’s never quite as strong as, say, a WeVibe Tango bullet). If you’re a power queen, this vibrator may not be strong enough, but for most people looking for a powerful and compact vibe, this one should fit the bill nicely.

In fact, the Mimi’s ultra-low frequency vibrations are what Je Joue is famous for: deep, rumbly (rather than buzzy) vibrations that won’t numb you out and can be felt within the entire structure of the clitoris, both external and internal. Furthermore, while not silent, the Mimi Soft is definitely a discreet vibrator that won’t alert your neighbors to your sex and masturbation habits, even at its highest setting. The Mimi Soft is also completely waterproof, so you can bring it into the shower or tub for even more relaxing vibes.

The Mimi Soft is wonderfully adaptable. The wide, flat front and back are perfect for grinding – while laying on a pillow, sitting on a chair, or anywhere else you can think of. (A fancy Liberator toy mount, perhaps? One can dream, anyway!). The narrow sides deliver firmer pinpoint stimulation, while the squishy tip provides gentle, but still direct, stimulation. The wide, flat front and back can encompass your entire vulva, or you can run the narrow sides along the edges of your clit or within the folds of your labia. Je Joue also touts this vibrator as a good all-over body massager, and while I haven’t used it for that purpose, it’s certainly soft and smooth enough to assume it would make for a lovely massage for yourself or a partner.

The slightly larger, ergonomic shape of this vibrator is also good for folks who have trouble holding onto smaller bullet vibes but who want something similarly compact and portable. The buttons on the bottom (+, -, and a pattern button) are easy to access, though I have to say they’re difficult to tell apart during actual use – but that’s a small gripe that doesn’t bother me and is far outweighed by the ease and versatility of this toy. I think this vibe would also be great for newbies buying a vibrator for the first time, as it allows for a ton of experimentation, letting you explore and figure out what sensations are most pleasurable for your body. The Mimi Soft also comes in several gender neutral colors, including black, lilac, fuchsia, purple, and gray (always love when pink isn’t the only option – though I end up choosing pink a lot anyway!).

One tiny note, if you are dealing with vulvodynia-related sensitivity, or are just extra sensitive in general: I have the most sensitive skin on the planet, and even medical-grade silicone toys can sometimes irritate the skin around my clit, unfortunately. In those cases, I switch to my trusty WeVibe Tango bullet, which is made of ABS plastic. I recommend having a plastic backup if you find yourself having a similar issue. And don’t forget to lube up (with water-based lube only, as silicone-based will degrade your beautiful toy)!

The Mimi Soft usually sells for $99, and you can buy it from a reputable retailer like Early2Bed. Je Joue also provides a one-year warranty on all their toys.
