Review: Portland Toy Co.’s Trinket

Portland Toy Company is a queer-owned artisan toy company whose mission is to make “gender neutral, fun focused, body-safe toys for everyone.” Each product is handmade (the molds are sculpted from clay, and each toy is hand-poured) and just beautiful – seriously, look at the shimmery, multi-colored marbling on my Rose Gold Trinket (above). I own two dildos from this company now, the Trinket and the iO Dual Density, and I absolutely recommend them for toys that do the job and last a long, long time – and also look like little (or big) pieces of phallic art sitting on your dresser.

Smaller dildos aren’t always easy to find, especially from small businesses that don’t make a huge number of different products, which is why I was happy to discover the Trinket on the PDX Toys website. Like most of my other small dildos, I bought this one when I was recovering from vulvodynia and vaginismus and I couldn’t handle anything much wider than an inch going inside my vagina, but I still wanted something more interesting (and less clinical) than a dilator to experiment with.

Two dildos (one pink and one pink and blue) on a teal background.
The Trinket (bottom) and the iO (top) – the Trinket is 1.25″ thick while the iO’s shaft is about 1.7″.

The Trinket tops out at 1.25 inches at the wide head, while the shaft is ever so slightly thinner (with 5.25 inches of insertable length), making it easy to insert even when I’m just getting warmed up. The smooth, untextured shaft is exceedingly comfortable once inside, and I find that it doesn’t eat up lube too quickly or drag on my skin the way some silicone dildos can (just make sure you’re using water-based lube only, or you run the risk of ruining your gorgeous new toy). The silicone itself is firm, single density with only a slight amount of give.

The wide, uniquely-shaped head (sort of bulbous but with a flat side) and curved shaft are designed for g-spot or prostate stimulation, and I can definitely attest to it working for the former. The Trinket curves right into my natural shapes for easy, comfortable g-spotting. In fact, if I had to describe it with one word, “comfortable” would probably be it. This dildo is easy on your vagina, great for those who are experimenting with penetration or g-spot stimulation (or recovering from something, like I was) and want a smooth ride. The design is also good for those who prefer dildos that are representational but not realistic.

If you’re looking for a smaller, uncomplicated dildo with a little interest that targets your g-spot or prostate in a gentle way, the Trinket is definitely worth your consideration. It’s just a bonus that it comes in nine fun colors that should suit anyone’s taste.

You can buy the Trinket directly from Portland Toy Company for $39, or on Etsy for $45.
